Rive Gauche by YSL is often compared to an upscale Barbasol - one of the classic "barbershop" style scents. The scent for this batch of Experimental soap is inspired by Rive Gauche with notes of lavender, rosemary, star anise, bergamot, oakmoss and clove.
You'll notice this soap is $6.99 - and here's why. I don't like the way this scent presents itself off the puck. When it's lathered the notes open up and its more true-to-form. But when I smell it off the puck I don't get the same experience. It's not a failed FO experiment, but I also wouldn't call it a stunning success.
The base, on the other hand, is a winner - my standard 20.1 base. So while I don't intend to make this exact scent again, these 12 soaps are a steal.
Formula 20.1J: This formula is a tried-and-true top performer. It lathers effortlessly with outstanding slickness, protection and post-shave feel.
